Focus On The Faith
When you are on the road to success, you will face many trials, experience disappointment, want to give up, lose sight of why you started and often find yourself competing with other people's journey or find yourself living up to the negative words you've heard about your success. As a man who has a lot of vision and ideas, I have been in situations where people began speaking against my vision while trying to build what God has given me. I also experienced some difficulties that left me at a crossroads. Either do it, or quit. Although it was discouraging, I couldn't let go of the faith I was holding on to. I realized that God put His stamp of approval on the work He called me to do and that's all I needed to keep moving forward. At the start of 1995 I felt a call to Pastor. I began working with my wife and those who came together to support me in order to establish a church in the name of the Lord. I experienced many trials, backlash, naysayers and trouble in the midst but I constantly focused on the vision God had given me. My sister was among the people who were going to work with me in building this ministry. She was passionate about the work of the Lord and showed nothing but love and support towards me during this time. Besides my wife, I like to think that she was one of my biggest supporters and we were blessed to be working in ministry together. As we were approaching some of the biggest moments of our lives in family, ministry, growth and possibility, I got a call that my sister was being rushed to the hospital. Upon her arrival she was pronounced dead. This created so many thoughts of uncertainty and disappointment. I almost lost hope but I remembered the word of the Lord and I kept the faith. I later wrote about all that I experienced while trying to work in ministry, raise a family and cope with the loss of my sister in my book Wrestling with god. Life will hit you with unexpected challenges and you will often be put in situations where you have to face your fears but remember, you are never alone. Focus on the faith and the things God has promised you. You will be so blessed by the outcome if you just stay positive. Maintain the believe that if God put you up to something, He will be with you until the end. Zechariah 9:12 says, "Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you." Be a prisoner of hope knowing that your labor is not in vain. Focus on the faith and you will see the blessings of God be manifested in your life. Here are some things to remember as you focus on the faith: 1. Abandon negative thoughts, words or fear of outcomes.
2. Realize that the only person who can kill your dreams is you. 3. Be mindful of what you're speaking over your destiny. 4. Don't discuss your plans with doubtful/negative people. 5. No matter what happens, speak life to your dreams.
