Stop Wasting Time

When I was growing up, one thing my father would always say is “A good attitude will take you a long way." This is very true, but I also realized that if you have a good attitude, but don't value your time or the time of others, your good attitude will only cause people to say nice things about you. With this understanding, I took the good attitude and I put it in perspective by developing my time. I began enhancing my skill-set, knowledge and information to help me get to the next level. Some people do nothing with a good attitude, but waste time. There are people that my father helped, who didn't value his time the time. I begin to analyzes my own life as a child. I didn't understand why my father would get phone calls at 3 o'clock in the morning while he was asleep. It still amazes me how he would wake up out of a deal sleep and sound like it was in the middle of the afternoon. On the other end of the phone would be someone who got in trouble because they didn't have a good attitude nor did they value their own time. Time is one of the most precious elements you have in your life. Once it's gone, you can't get it back. Each of us have the same 24 hours in day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. I think it is interesting how we constantly waste time and energy with things that don't matter. We waste time with situations that stay the same, with people who have the same feelings about us that they did 10 years ago. we waste time and energy that cannot be replaced. Here you are 15, 20, 30 years later and you're looking back, asking yourself questions about why you didn't make the right decisions for your life. My father was absolutely right, many doors have opened because of having the right attitude but you need to ask yourself the question, “Do I have the heart to do the work that I need to do and spend time on bettering myself, family, goals and dreams?” You will notice that in my blog, we are constantly discussing goals and dreams. The reason is because most of us read and study but we very seldom fulfill our goals and dreams. Goals are simply things that you want to accomplish year-by-year. Dreams maybe something that you aspire to that may cost you your life or take take a lifetime to achieve but it's a pursuits of happiness. Your goal may be tangible or intangible. Perhaps you want to own a mansion, have a successful business, to see your kids graduate from college etc. This week I want you to think about how you spend your time stop wasting it because you can't get it back! Every day, hour, minute and second counts. This reminds me of a true story about the life of a man who was an elder in the church, who worked with my family in ministry for over 40 years until he was 82 years old. This man loved cars. One day he was going to look at some automobiles. He had to cross the street to get to the next car lot. As he crossed the street, a man was driving and did not see him walking in the crosswalk. The driver was distracted because he looked down at his cell phone for 6 seconds and hit the the man and killed him instantly. You must understand life doesn't happen in days and years, life happens in seconds and minutes. If you don't ever get to the point of understanding how precious your time is, you end up dead in the grave mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and eventually physically. What are you doing with your time? The Bible says that the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. In other words, if you are walking with destiny and purpose, every step you take; your seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years, have been led by the Lord and have brought you where you are today. Examine your life and ask yourself, did I use my time wisely? Here are some tips to help you put time in perspective for yourself: 1. Make your time count 2. Get away from those who don't value your time 3. Procrastination is the thief of time 4. People who value you also value your time 5. Spend more time developing yourself and you will attract success 6. You can't get the time you wasted back but you make the time you have count
